New Ulm Middle School SCHOOL FOREST 5 ACRES ESTABLISHED 2019 NOW RECRUITING MEMBERS Join the School Forest Committee Five acres of woods sit at the edge of our school grounds. We are forming a committee of parents, neighbors and staff to keep it useful for teachers and open to the community. We are looking for interested members! WHAT THE COMMITTEE DOES - Develop and maintain trails. - Plan events, such as planting Arbor Month seedlings, harvesting, removing buckthorn, cleaning trash and debris, etc. - Ensuring appropriate funding. This could mean applying for grants to pay for supplies, snowshoes, benches, or shelters. - Get or build site enhancements (signs, benches, buildings, etc.). - Helping teachers use the school forest, brainstorming community connections to make the site as accessible as possible for education. - Other ideas are welcome, and only one "official" meeting per year is required.
